History of the A.S.I.A. brand
In 1924, mister Georges Dessaucy begins to build radios, after having work as mechanician in garages... the ASIA brand is born!

In 1921, he build a first galena receiver with a schematic of magasine «sciences et voyages». He left mechanical for his new activity: the radio. The first factory is located in Pepinster (near Verviers, east Belgium) More and more customers came, to buy their receiver... |

1931: one local station emitter is installed (at his home?): Radio-Pepinster. 1933: the factory move in the center of Verviers, rue Crapaurue 131. A lot of radios built at this era... 1941: new move to rue Cuper, 4. Always in the center of Verviers. (see photograph) The factory stays here until the end. |

After the war , the factory grows up. A lot of new models are created. Some persons works full-time to build radios, transformers, little electro-mechanical parts... and televisions, later.

Mechanic works. Most of necessary pieces were built here. Screw-cutting lathe, 50Tons press, machines-tools,... The workroom was complete ! |

1952: new start, he builds its first television receiver. In order to receive images, he let a house situated at the top of Verviers. A wood tower support a big antenna, to receive images from Holland and Germany (photograph). 1953: he invite customers and friends to see the crowning of the Queen of England, live-transmitted. First serial of televisions sets built by the factory were sold a few months after. |

Building televisions became the principal activity of A.S.I.A. Some constructs were inventive: Radio-TV combinations, connecting modules... When printed-circuits boards appears, this will be done also on A.S.I.A. factory.
Some televisions sets were shown at the universal exhibition of Bruxelles... the mythic «Expo58» ! This is the exhibitor access card of M. Dessaucy, increase with clic on ...
The A.S.I.A. activity wasn't only the selling: the television sets were installed at the customer's house. The antenna was also installed by the factory employees. At this era, television was reserved to some people, because the price...
In the late 60's years, production will decrease. The big brands, who use automatic assemblies and mass-production are a great concurrence for this kind of little factories. New technologies appears: color television and semi-conductors, more and more integrated... It was a real technological revolution in those years!
In 1972, he left off his activities. So, it ends a famous adventure for this «self-made man», who had never study what will become his activity...
The building of rue Cuper was destroyed in the middle of the 80's. Only the garage stays today.
Origin and meaning of the brand:
It seems that, at the beginning, the ASIA name was choosen «for» the Asiatic continent - and what it present at this era! Meaning of letters was find later. It gives:
Ateliers Scientifiques et Industriels d'Applications
That's why this name can be wrote with or without separating dots.
